Sample delivery
For sampling, it is advisable to prepare vials or bottles with 70% or 96% ethanol (but at least 50%) at the bottom, well-sealed and numbered (with a unique identifying number-sequence). For example, a 9 ml Monovette tube shown below is suitable for this. In the absence of alcohol, the sample will only remain testable for only a few days. We kindly ask all sample submitters to try to remove the ticks carefully and without injury by grasping their mouthparts as close to the skin surface as possible with pointed tweezers, pulling them out in a direction perpendicular to the skin, and then placing the tick in the sampling vial. Avoid touching the tick with your bare hands - please wear rubber gloves when collecting ticks. As soon as the ticks have entered the vial, they must be rotated carefully 3-4 times so that the ethanol can permeate the sample. Please fill in the collection data on our website, then click on the "SEND DATA" button. After that, our colleagues will contact you shortly and inform you about the next steps.
